Do you need some encouragement that God knows what He’s doing? Do you need a reminder that His timing is the best timing? I was a regular contributor for Gifted for Leadership for two years. It’s a leadership blog for Christianity Today. Me and the senior editor worked great together. Everything was going good. She loved almost every manuscript I turned in. I was growing as a writer. Well, last summer she left her post to pursue other adventures, thus a new senior editor entered the picture. To make a long story short, the new partnership didn’t go well. I stopped writing for Gifted For Leadership earlier this year. It’s been a bitter conversion between me and God. Dealing with the new senior editor had my confidence as a writer shaken.
A few days ago, I received a random Facebook message from someone I do not know. It was a woman who read one of my articles I wrote for Gifted for Leadership. It was an article on church cliques which I wrote over a year ago. She sent a quick note to tell me the article was “excellent”. I have never had anyone go out of their way to contact me about one of my articles. It was such a sweet reminder that I am in fact doing God’s will. It was a reminder to me that God knows what He’s doing. When I wrote that article last year I checked on it two weeks after it was published and it had 85 Facebook shares. That’s actually pretty low. So I assumed it wasn’t a strong article. I completely forgot about it. I checked on it last week, and to my complete surprise it had over 750 Facebook shares! Isn’t that so God? When we get down He’s doing mighty work behind the scenes. That’s 750 people I had nothing to do with. I didn’t advertise the article. I didn’t ask friends to share it. God has been doing all the work Himself.
I hope this gives you encouragement to keep seeking God. Keeping doing His will. Never stop trusting Him. And stop looking at the clock, because He has this all under control.
If you’d like to read the article I referred to here’s the link; The Church that Cliques. It’s an important message on the dangers of church cliques.
