Is God Really Here For Me Too?

He Loves Us Beyond Our Imagination

I had the privilege of serving in a prayer room during a women’s ministry event at church one evening. I was a fairly new Christian, and eager to serve where needed.

An older woman, “Sarah”, walked into the prayer room. She had a desperate prayer. She said she needed money to pay her rent. I prayed with Sarah and assured her God would make a way. I did not know how God would provide, but I had no doubt He would make a way.

Although Sarah was there to receive prayer, she really did not have a lot of hope in her demeanor. She looked at me and said “Do you really believe God loves everyone kid?” Without hesitation I said, “Yes, I do”.

I told her I would continue to pray for her. I wrote her information down. I even asked her if I could have a few friends pray for her as well – and she agreed.

The next day, I was at a Sunday school class gathering and I shared the situation with some of the women in my class. One of the ladies I was talking to owned a business and was looking for a few workers. She asked me to give  Sarah her number. I was so excited! I emailed Sarah that evening to tell her. I gave her my friend’s information so she could contact her about a job.

Well guess what? Sarah never contacted her. Every time I tried to follow-up, she made excuses about why she couldn’t go to talk about a possible job. I eventually left the situation alone.

Sometimes we want God to answer our prayers – our way. We have a need, but aren’t willing to take baby steps and walk through the open doors. I’m convinced God made a way for Sarah to not only pay for her upcoming rent – but future rent – however, Sarah chose not to move when God intervened.

Yes, God cares for every human being. He cares for all people. He cares for you. We cannot dictate to God how He should answer our prayers. Our job is to pray.  He job is to answer. Maybe if Sarah had taken the first step, she might have been hired, and she could have asked her landlord for some time to pay rent.

Deep inside we need to believe that God cares for us – despite our shortcomings. We need to believe God loves us – even if no one else has shown love to us. We need to trust God, and take the first step when we pray for His guidance.

Shout for joy because God loves you! No matter how you feel about yourself today – He loves you, and He really is here for you too!

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
